Content Strategy
The purpose of this activity is to obtain an understanding of effective content development and strategy in order to create a successful user experience online, whether it's on a website, social media or blog posts.
The first point of interest was taking personas further by creating an empathy map to deepen the understanding of a buyer persona by placing them in the context of their surroundings. I feel this is extremely important in conducting this brainstorming phase in order to create content that will resonate with those thoughts, feelings, pains, and gains.
The second point of interest is somewhat similar to the empathy map in that it is important to go beyond having the message heard and understood by considering the context of the target audience. Their specific surroundings and circumstances can affect the impact of the message and the audience perception of that message.
Lastly, I find it interesting and important to build out the scenarios and activity flows which help in identifying different entry points to your website or content and the journey that user will take based on the first touchpoint with your website or content. Knowing the different possible entry points can help a content strategist address all possibilities.
I am interested in researching the Style Guides website further and reviewing the example library that has style guides from MailChimp, Starbucks etc. I had not heard of this tool before, so I am interested in learning more about how it can help me with future website and/or content projects.
As I move further into working on the fictitious client, I will definitely be referring to the example files provided from the course and following the processes and workflows to help me create a better content strategy and user experience.
