Week 3 Project: Digital Storytelling Challenge

Our group started out with communicating through the messages in Full Sail Online, then went on to email and picked our roles. As we got to the weekend and we all had plans, we started collaborating in Google Hangouts so we could communicate even on the go. Google Hangouts definitely moved things along with our group because everyone had plans for the weekend so it was a more efficient, instant way to collaborate.

Individual Roles
Denisse Lebron - Project Coordinator/Graphics
Jada Lee - Video Editing/Audio
Gilbert Medina - Script/Video Editing

We each chose our roles in the group. I chose project coordinator and graphics. I began communication within our group, initiated picking roles, and suggested UberEats as the brand we were going to use in our video. I then did some research on UberEats and created a document that outlined the brand, it's company message, our roles and an idea that came to mind for the video message. I also chose the graphics for the video, and due to some unexpected circumstances, ended up later making some tweaks to the video and adding audio. So, in the end, I took on quite a few roles.

I was surprised in how easy it was for everyone to initially agree on the roles and on the selected brand to create the video. Everyone has different skills sets within the class but my group seemed to have different skills that complimented each other. For example,I am still learning Adobe Premier for video editing, but my group members were more skilled with video editing so they offered to take that role. So that was a benefit in working together.

I am proud that overall two of us within our group were able to stay in communication and work together to get our project turned in regardless of a few challenging events.

I did find it to be a challenge being that we are online students and everyone is basically managing school around different responsibilities, schedules and priorities. Another challenge is, with group projects and depending on the roles, you are dependent on the other team members before being able to complete or submit your assignment. I don't feel we captured the human connection as well as we could have, but overall it worked out.
